Hunter Killer by Brad Taylor (And a Giveaway)

I have yet to meet a writer who didn’t intrigue me just by virtue of who they are independent of their writings. Maybe that’s part of what makes a good story teller, a person whose own story is a colorful one to tell. I have thoroughly enjoyed going to the book signings at my closest indie book store, Vero Beach Book Center, and one of the things that has surprised me most is the stories of the writers themselves.

The most recent author whom I had the privilege to see was Brad Taylor, creator of the Pike Logan series and former special forces operator. Like the other writers I have seen who started life in jobs that held a harsh daily reality, Mr. Taylor was laid back and modest, and he had the bonus of a great sense of humor. He regaled us with tales of his research adventures and mishaps and how he used those to add depth to his settings and story and occasionally to reap some good natured revenge with an explosion or two.

In Hunter Killer, Mr. Taylor explores what man will do to protect his own and in the process leads the reader through Pike Logan’s answer to that question. As with many writers, Mr. Taylor uses a framework of true political craziness to build his story, and he smoothly melds fiction with it leaving the reader wondering just exactly which is crazier and which is more rational, truth or fiction. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will likely follow it up by reading the earlier ones in the series.

Right now, though, I’d like to give my readers a chance to win a free goody box that will include a signed copy of Hunter Killer. To be entered to win, simply subscribe to this blog if you haven’t already and follow me on social media: Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. The subscription is your first chance, and you get an additional one for each follow. For extra chances, share this post on any of these social media sites, but be sure to tag me in the post, or I won’t know you did it! One extra chance for each share, and you can do so as many times on each medium as you like between now and the giveaway. Winner will be announced Sunday, February 2, 2020, a.k.a. Superbowl Sunday.
